Coca seeds are hard to obtain because seeds that are collected from a plant grown by cuttings (clones, propagation), are not viable as they possess no embryo. Most farmers use this method as it results in earlier harvesting, and as a consequence the chance of obtaining viable seeds is becoming very difficult, if not impossible. A big part of our coca comes from seeds, we prefer the seed method over clone propagation as it aloud us to produce several coca varieties through the year and help us improve the quality of our teas.
